We are thrilled to introduce a truly specialized care model to our community: The Lighthouse Memory Care of Des Moines is the region’s first licensed, standalone residential care home dedicated exclusively to memory care.
While memory care is often offered as a secondary unit or dedicated wing within a larger senior living facility, at The Lighthouse, dementia care is our entire focus. Every detail of our physical home and care philosophy was retrofitted specifically around the daily needs, comfort, and security of individuals living with memory loss. Here, your loved one isn't sharing resources or fitting into a generalized schedule—they are the heart and center of everything we do.
A Purposefully Designed Environment
Following an extensive renovation project that began in the fall of 2025, our nearly 9,000-square-foot boutique-style home offers an intimate, calm, and elevated setting engineered to foster secure freedom:
Thoughtful, Secure Indoor Layout: Fully licensed, secured, and ADA-compliant, featuring 11 private bedrooms, 15 bathrooms, open and light-filled communal spaces, and an elevator serving all three levels.
An Outdoor Sanctuary: Our property includes a park-like backyard spanning over an acre, complete with secure walking paths, an outdoor dining area, and plans for an interactive outdoor gardening space coming in spring 2027.
Enriching Everyday Amenities: Includes an on-site hair salon to maintain self-care routines in a familiar setting.
Community & Clinical Partnerships: Features a dedicated classroom space designed to foster local partnerships, clinical training, and intergenerational connection.
